Clinical Supervision |
|
Supervision is available on an ongoing basis in an individual and small group format. Phone supervision is also available for those at a distance. There is a regular group supervision session in the afternoon following the monthly Life Focus Group.
Counsellors and therapists in both the public and private sectors today face a wider range of clients with challenging problems. Typically the client has multiple diagnoses in mental health and substance abuse and a significant history of abuse, neglect and social upheaval.
The background of the supervisors at the Illawarra centre means that supervision is able to be focused on both the Gestalt approach and traditional clinical approaches to assessment and treatment in working with major disorders. The importance of the “therapist as their own best instrument” allows for acknowledging vicarious trauma and the role of self awareness and personal development.
